What it costs

Without paying, the Lawyer prep packet and the My Damn Self packet print with “PRINTED FOR REFERENCE · NOT FOR FILING · mydamnself.com” large and slanted over every page, and a line at the top of each page saying it is not for filing. You can still read every word. One payment of $29.99 releases both packets for that case without the mark.

This $29.99 payment is not a subscription. Nothing about it bills you again. A membership is $7.99 a month and you cancel it on the membership page. Refunds and terms.

The short packet you can pull up in a hurry and hand to police or a first responder. The first pages are only what the moment needs:

• Who is here — the people you named, by the part they play
• Who to call
• Any protection order — the packet says to show the officer the order itself; it does not restate its terms
• Your most recent incident or two, in your own words, with the evidence you tied to them and each file’s SHA-256 fingerprint

Everything else is still in it, at the end, under Background, for later: your earlier incidents, the pattern counted from your own record, more of your evidence with its fingerprints, and your state’s law and procedure. Sections a person has checked against the state’s own code are marked as checked, with the source and the day it was read; the rest show the wording as we found it, where we got it, and “source wording and provenance”, with the state’s own link where one has been found. The officer’s duty on a domestic-violence call is shown only for a state whose law on it has been verified and signed; every other state shows the source name, link and read date and a link to the official source, where one has been found.

It is there once you are signed in and have written in at least two incidents on your Timeline.

Never empty: if nothing is tied to an incident yet, it carries your newest evidence and says plainly that it is not tied yet.

For one case — the prep an attorney would otherwise spend billed hours assembling:

• The context first — who, when and where, and the incidents you wrote, in your own words
• Your evidence in date order — each exhibit with its date, where the date and the file came from, and its fingerprint
• Your own notes, set apart — after the evidence, in an appendix labelled as your notes and the app’s suggestions, not findings: your points, your categories, and the exhibits grouped by behaviour with the law filed under each
• Where the record is thin — gaps, weak dates and untagged items, counted and stated plainly rather than hidden
• A QR code beside every source, so anyone holding the paper can scan it and read the law themselves
• A QR of each exhibit’s fingerprint, so a file handed over separately can be matched to its page
• The build that assembled it, named in the receipt saved beside a packet with a packet ID (never printed on the pages), so the same version and the same files can be shown to produce the same package
• Recordings read into words, on this device — sold separately: first 3 minutes free, then $5 for 5 recordings. The recording never leaves. It can mishear a word. The recording governs

Licensed to one case, and it does not expire. Export it, catch a wrong date next week, fix it and export again — as many times as the case needs, at no extra charge. It is one packet for one case, not a copy of the software.

The whole organising job never needs a payment, on any case:

• Bring in photos, screenshots, documents, whole folders and message histories
• Dates read off your files — and each one says where it came from. Where two sources disagree, it says so and refuses to pick
• Words read out of screenshots, PDFs, Word files, transcripts — and out of scanned documents that have no text in them at all
• Tag and behaviour flagging from the Duluth wheel — read from your own words, against a list you can read. The scan fills them in for you; you can take any tag off, and one you take off never comes back.
• Search across everything it could read
• Save your work as one encrypted file you keep on this device, open it again, and erase everything at any time
